Finish It Off
Supply List
Please bring and use scrap or 'unlovely' fabrics for this class. This is a class to learn techniques and not to produce a finished project. You will learn step by step to apply a full even binding with mitered corners. Scallops and curves will be demonstrated, and if you have time, you may wish to try these, too.
Supplies:
- If you have a quilt ready for borders, bring your top and border fabric. You can cut and apply the border during class.
- 3-4 prequilted squares or rectangles about the size of placemats. Layer two pieces of fabric with batting and secure the layers with quilting. It may be cross-hatched or meander or whatever you choose. It must be quilted but the quality of the quilting is unimportant. These are not size critical, but you need several corners to practice the techniques. Prequilted fabric may also be used.
- If you plan to try curves or scallops, bring a quilted piece(s) 12x24 or longer for this process.
- 1 yd of fabric for bindings
- Bring basic machine sewing and standard cutting supplies including utility ruler (6x12 and if you have it a 6x24) and a squaring up ruler at least 9" square. Threads need not match. Include a fresh blade in your rotary cutter, sharp utility scissors (5"-7"), and a sharp or mechanical pencil.
