All measurements are given for cutting full width strips of fabrics. If you choose to use fat quarters or scraps, adjust and figure your fabrics accordingly. Measurements are given for an 8x8 quilt of 6 ½" squares and the extra quilt is 5x5 of 8 ½" squares. A few extra pieces are not a problem (unless you don't like leftovers) and will give you additional choices as you begin to lay out your quilt.
For the workshop quilts:
For 4 ½" borders, each quilt will need about a yard for border and binding if you cut width of fabric. 1 ¾ yd will be needed to cut length of grain to allow for unpieced units and miters.
Anything over 12x12 will work, but the 18x24 will give you good working space. A large mat will be available.
